[He gets that feeling. It's so normal. So...okay. Well, as normal and okay as sexy space station can be. But compared to even just his own experiences, it's kind of incredible. It must be really something for her.]
You aren't bored of it, are you?
[It's not asked in an accusatory way, not said with any malice or suspicion. It's not someone wanting to know if she wants to cause despair or anything again, but a genuinely curious question.]
[She looks to him sharply, eyes scanning his face for signs of what his question might really be, because-- Yeah, she hears that tone, but it's hard to break old habits.
When she sees he really does mean it in a more-or-less innocently curious way, she relaxes and shakes her head.]
No, not really. I mean... S-some days it's a little boring, when there isn't much to do, or I don't f-feel like doing much, but, um... Even those days are... nice. Some days-- [A pause. Her fingers curl into her shirt, twisting the front of it a little.]
Some days... I don't even think much about it at all... [There's no clarification for what 'it' means, but it's probably obvious she means just about all the bullshit from back home.]
[He listens, humming a little once she's done while reaching out to take her hands. Here, stop twisting your shirt like that, you're gonna mess it up!]
Did you know one of my jobs back home as Supreme Leader of Evil was to make sure nobody was bored? It was a pretty big responsibility, but my subordinates and I tackled it with enthusiasm! Of course, it helps that I get bored suuuuuuuuuuper easily, so I was always looking for ways to fix that. We traveled all over the world, me and my top members, making sure there wasn't a single dull day to be had!
[His smile is full of pride as he says this.]
I'm still starting out again, but pretty soon I'll make sure this place isn't boring either, y'know? As I slowly take over, I'll keep it interesting, and then pretty soon the whole station will be in my control and one word from me will be able to change everything! But until then, whenever you're bored, come hang out with me!
[Mikan listens, quiet and with all her attention focused on him. She knows his talk of taking over the station is just that-- talk. Or, at least, it's not something that will be happening any time soon. She's not entirely sure he even actually wants to do that-- and, equally, isn't sure if he even knows.
But she squeezes his hands and steps closer, appreciative of the efforts to cheer her up, and for the invitation she knows is there. She doesn't hug him, since he's got her hands, but she leans in to rest her head against his after a moment she tilts her head to give him a shy, chaste little kiss.]
Thank you. [And then immediately she turns bright red] Um! S-sorry, sorry, I d-didn't even ask first...!
[She'd be right about that last part. He doesn't know, not really. Sure, he never took over the world back home, but it did still feel like he had it in the palm of his hands, through all of their antics. The idea of taking something over much smaller is kind of exciting, in a way, but...who knows.
What he does know is that a kiss is coming. It's pretty easy to recognize, with the way she moves, and he doesn't budge from his spot. He gives her that kiss, smiling a little afterward, something only grows into a grin at her embarrassment.]
Nishishi~ Why are you apologizing? I'm the lucky guy who just got a kiss from Tsumiki-chan~ Out in public even, all the boys are going to be sooooo jealous!
[He pulls his hands away, giving her a devious wink before moving to lean out the storefront and immediately starts shouting-]
I just got a kiss from Tsumiki-chan!! It was amazing and all you losers feel free to weep over what you're missing!!
[He's not even the slightest bit embarrassed as he pulls his head back in, grin still plastered on his face.]
[It feels a little weird to be kissing or affectionate with him after he's confessed to being so in love with Shuichi. There's something about this place that makes it easy to forget about what exactly constitute appropriate behavior, which Mikan is reasonably sure this isn't.
AND NEITHER IS THAT.
Mikan doesn't scream, but she does make a loud, strangled noise of protest, waving her hands frantically as if somehow that will shush him.]
O-O-Oma-san!? [WHY.] Ah! St-stop, why are you--!? N-no one wants to hear about that! Uwah! [Her face is going to be stuck tomato red]
[Mikan presses her hands over her face with a little wail, not sure how to even argue against that] I-I'm not...! O-Oma-san, you're just biased, s-so, um, so...!
[She pauses though, peeking quietly through her fingers at him as her blush begins to calm down. She knows he's more or less just having fun with it, and she'd hate to ruin the good mood, but...]
Oma-san... Even after knowing, um... All of that... Are you really okay with it? ["Okay with me?"]
[He's definitely just having fun with it, though that question catches him a little off guard. The most that really happens is that his smile softens, so if she ruined the good mood, it doesn't show. No frowns, no heavy thinking, nothing.]
Mmm...well, you know I'd have to ask you the same question, right?
[Don't forget, Mikan, he's killed people too. His voice is gentle but firm as he continues, hoping not to hurt her with his words but...well. They sting him just saying them...]
But I mean...are you sorry for it? Not that I'm asking for an apology or anything, it's not like you did anything to me personally but...just in general. Are you sorry for what you did?
[He honestly expects her to say yes. She just...doesn't seem like the remorseless serial killer type. But he's asking anyway, because that's what he'd want from someone else if the situation were reversed. He'd want to be held accountable, to have the things he did and the fact that he does feel remorse both acknowledged, rather than everything just blindly ignored in favor of assuming he's a good person.
Maybe that's just him though...maybe he's being cruel, asking that. He doesn't take it back, though, just plans on cheering her back up if this does end up crossing the line.]
O-of course! [She pulls her hands away from her face, wringing her hands together anxiously.] I... I'll never be able to apologize enough for it.
At the time... At the time, I wasn't. For me, it was... fun. Freeing. I could do whatever I wanted, whenever I wanted, no rules, no restrictions... But! but I-I'm not like that anymore! I promise! But. [Mikan goes quiet, shaking her head]
That doesn't excuse the fact it happened, that I did it...
[Yep. That's what he expected, and that just brings his smile back to full force. He reaches out to take her hands, giving them a squeeze.]
It doesn't, but that's okay. We're in the same boat, y'know? [Kokichi glances away, smile slipping into a soft frown.] The whole game I was...really terrible. I thought I had to be. Thought I had to treat my friends like crap, thought I had to treat them like toys or tools. I laughed at their deaths and as they struggled to survive class trials, meddled to try and make things "interesting"...
[And then he looks back to her, serious look still firm on his face.] But...I'm not really like that. And I'll never be able to apologize enough for how I acted either. And neither of those things excuse me but...we're trying, right? Maybe that makes me biased too, but that's what matters to me...
[She lets him take her hands again, listening quietly as she gives them a comforting squeeze.] ...N-no, I get it. I can't hate you for those things either...You're right, what's important is what we're doing now.
[She sniffles a bit and gives a shaky little smile.] So, um...I think.. Together, if we're supporting each other? I-I think we can do it. ["It" meaning something like "get stable" or "be worthy of forgiveness." Or maybe just, "we can make up for all we'd done."]
Exactly. [He squeezes her hands in return, then glances at the counter when the cashier clears his throat. He had finished their waffles, but was trying not to interrupt whatever...that whole thing was. But now seemed like a good point, and Kokichi was quietly grateful.
As much as he likes Mikan, things were getting way too heavy for his tastes. So with another squeeze and leaning into steal a quick kiss of his own, he lets go and heads to the counter to get their waffles.]
Alright Tsumiki-chan, are you ready for an amazing treat~?
[The quick kiss is a nice distraction at least, causing Mikan to squawk in alarm, covering her face with her hands]
O-Oma-san...! [But it's not like there's much use in trying to scold him. She turns to face the counter, remembering now that they were getting food, and she nods in something like defeat. You win this round, Kokichi...]
Nishishi~ [He clearly knows he's won too, holding out Mikan's waffle to her with an all too pleased with himself grin. He doesn't miss a beat, continuing to pull the conversation further away from the topic of killing and despair once she accepts hers.]
Okay, so you said you don't know how to do this, right? Well like I said, I've done it lots of times~ You're pretty lucky knowing a guy like me, huh? [Said with a wink.] Now when I do it, I usually like to start with the tip. Just a couple playful licks, y'know? Just enough to get a little taste and get excited about it! Some people though prefer--
[He stops, frowning momentarily. This was a great joke and all, but getting into the details and making it sexual to try and keep it going...eugh. It reminds him of Miu too much for his tastes. Sure, it's fun to make dick jokes and all that now that it's more setting appropriate than a killing game, but does he really want to do something he could absolutely see that pervy inventor doing...?
[He smiles pretty quick again, ushering for Mikan to take a seat at one of the few tables in front of the windows.]
Eh, actually, that joke is pretty boring now. Were you actually interested in hearing about me and Saihara-chan? That's where our conversation had left off, isn't it?
[There's squeak, Mikan's face getting redder and redder until it looks like steam is about to explode out her ears as Kokichi begins to speak. She splutters and waves her hands around frantically as it to signal for him to JUST. STOP!!]
[But then he's switching gears so suddenly and she's catching that look on his face. But before she can ask, he's overwhelming her again.
She takes the plate at last (trying not to stare too much at the dick-shape) an follows him to the table.]
Ah, um-- Y-yes, if you want to talk about it... [Sorry the dick shape is really distracting, she keeps staring at it and then back at Kokichi, dividing her attention. It'll be better once she starts eating and destroys its image, it's fine.]
[He chuckles as he watches her divide her attention, picking his own up and biting off the head with no hesitation. Once that bite is swallowed he shrugs.]
I mean I already admitted to it. As long as the convo stays between us, maybe it'd do me some good to talk about it. You know, like talking about nightmares and how that makes them go away for a while.
[Maybe getting it off his chest will make the feelings go away for a while.]
[Mikan frowns a little, wanting to point out that she's not entirely certain it works the same, but...
Well, who knows. She still thinks he should talk to Shuichi about it too, but ti's not advice to give so easily, specially when she wouldn't do that either.
She picks up to waffle thing and tentatively takes a bite out of the tip. It's better than she thought it'd be, truthfully, which shows on her face as she takes another bite.]
I'll listen, and...I won't tell anyone. So please, talk as much as you like.
[Talking to Shuichi is impossible. So unfortunately that advice would fall on deaf ears...sorry about that, Mikan. But he nods, taking another bite less because he's hungry and more to stall some.
Man...he doesn't even know how to talk about it. Why did he offer this conversation topic? In theory it sounded like a good idea, get it off his chest, do the "healthy" thing about talking things out instead of bottling them up, but what is he even supposed to say? Beyond just..."I love him"? He glances out the window.]
Uh...well. Yeah, so, I love him and I've been in love with him since sometime during our killing game. Pretty early on, honestly...
[Another bite, which he follows up with pointing his waffle at her, focusing back on Mikan.]
I mean, how could I not be? How could anyone not be? He's pretty perfect, y'know? Obviously not literally perfect, everyone has their flaws, but even his flaws aren't all that bad. Not always healthy for him, but it's better than what a lot of people have going on. You've met him, right? It seems like you're more familiar with him than from when I just mentioned him briefly.
[It's pretty obvious to Mikan, as she listens and eats her dick-waffle, that this is not something that's going to just go away from talking it out. Kokichi is pretty obviously head-over-heels for Shuichi and Mikan's starting to regret a little her promise not to say anything, because she's so far out of her element here that she'd love to get advice from someone else. Anything that might help him.
Please don't wave your dick in her face tho, Kokichi, pls.
She nods though] Y-yeah, I've met him a couple of times... H-he's very nice, and gentle. I can see why people like him so much. Akamatsu-san introduced us to each other during the, um... Sports ["sports"...] Event thing.
[He was waving it for emphasis. Don't you agree that a dick is always good emphasis for anything, Mikan?
He makes a little face, pulling his dick back to take another bite out of it and glances away again.]
Of course she did.
[Normally it wouldn't really bug him, but Mikan is one of his subordinates...he wanted to introduce them, if they didn't meet on their own! But oh well...it makes more sense for his girlfriend to do that kind of thing anyway he guesses...he'll have to come up with something amazing later, introduce her and Clear together as DICE rather than just as his friends. Really wow the detective!
He sighs and runs a hand through his hair.]
He's really easy to like, isn't he? He's super patient, too. It wasn't until I was really trying hard to get everyone to hate me that he started actually taking issue with me...before then he mostly put up with me. I kind of want to say he even had fun sometimes? But I don't know if that was it, or if he's just really good at tolerating and humoring people. But then again, he did keep coming to hang out with me, so maybe...
[Turning his attention back to her, he leans in a little.]
See, that's one of the things that makes him so great. I can never tell what he's thinking, he's totally unpredictable. I mean most of the time I can guess, but he always manages to surprise me, y'know? Nobody does that. I can figure pretty much anyone out, easily, but I just can't get a read on him. It's...I don't know. Amazing? Fascinating? It's really attractive...people are so boring on their own, normally. He's interesting, even when I'm not telling him lies. Though he's also probably one of my favorite people to lie to. I literally never thought I'd meet someone who could make lying any more fun than it already is and then I met him! I'm not sure what it is, if it's because he plays along or how he actually tries to analyze them sometimes rather than just brushing them off like most people or what...
[Another sigh...]
He's super smart, too. He can actually keep up with me and my games. Nobody can do that save for a couple of my subordinates at home, but this is different. DICE...that's just how we work. We always go along with each others antics, never question it. But it's like he actually wants to figure this stuff out sometimes. And I don't ever really give him the option of not playing, but he knows he could say no. But he doesn't? Aaah...I don't know if that's actually him wanting to figure anything out though, or just humoring me again. It's always hard to tell with him. And then like you said, he's nice and gentle...he's such a shy, introverted wall flower, but he really brightens up a room when he's there, y'know? And when he's not everything is just...dull and boring.
[Yeah, he's definitely head-over-heels for him. Tapping his fingers lightly against the table, he sets his waffle down.]
I mean...what's the point of socializing when I know how everything is going to turn out? What's the point of going out and doing anything? Everything feels like routine now. Even my lies do, and that's what kept things so interesting before. I've really never met anyone like him before...how can someone so great like that even exist? It makes me feel like I was actually lucky, ending up in that game...lucky that I got to meet him, that he was willing to pay me even the smallest amount of attention rather than ignoring me like a lot of the others did...aha. I don't know if that makes me pathetic or desperate though. Probably the first one, because there's so much more I could say about him. I'm really pathetic. Which is really annoying! But I can't help it. I've never felt this way before...
[She stops midway through eating because Kokichi just keeps going.
Oh.
Oh honey.
She can't truthfully say she understands it all. Shuichi is nice, but she doesn't think he's as perfect and wonderful as Kokichi is going on about-- Then again, she has only run into him like, once or twice or something.
On the other hand, she can totally see herself gushing about Hinata in this way, so she can't say much...]
Ouma-san... If Saihara-san didn't like you or like hanging out with you... Then I don't think he would. Not when there's other things he could be doing, especially here. And um, I don't think it's pathetic. You're just... really in love.
[it's all she can think to really say in the face of all of that.]

I don't know if that makes me pathetic or desperate though. Probably the first one, because there's so much more I could say about him. I'm really pathetic. Which is really annoying! But I can't help it. I've never felt this way before...
